FOURTH District Rep. Manay Gina de Venecia considers the bill she filed seeking the expansion of the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan as the most significant bill she filed in the House of Representatives.

This was reported by De Venecia to the people of Barangay Bonuan Boquig when she graced their fiesta last March 23.

She said of the 120 bills she filed in her first term in Congress, the most significant so far is the one seeking the expansion of the R1MC, which is now being expanded from 300-bed capacity to 1,500 bed capacity.

To realize this, President Benigno Aquino III and Health Secretary Enrique Ona approved the construction staring June this year of R1MC’s 11-storey medical building, soon to become the tallest building not only in Pangasinan but in the entire Northern Luzon.

In her first term of office, De Venecia was chosen as assistant majority floor leader and head of the women legislators in the House of Representatives.

The modernization of R1MC entails a budget of P1.2 Billion with at least P390 million already released. The bidding for the first phase of the project was already undertaken last week.

De Venecia called on the people of Barangay Bonuan Boquig to rejoice at the modernization of R1MC which will bring quality health care to them and the rest of the people of Dagupan City and Pangasinan.

Ang mas maganda po  ay wala pong gagastusin ang Dagupan, kahit isang sentimo sa daily operations nito, dahil ang lahat ay ng pondo ay manggagaling sa Department of Health (DOH),” she noted.

She also reported that the Region 1 Drug Rehabilitation Center in Bonuan Binloc is now completed and is already partially operational.

The project was started by her husband, former House Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr., and she continued it when she took over as congresswoman of the district and completed with the help of the DOH and the Dangerous Drugs Board headed by Secretary Antonio Villar Jr.

When fully operational, it will cater to clients not only from Pangasinan but the entire Region 1.
