PANGASINAN’s new 17 mayors will formally assume their posts on July 1 while 31 re-elected mayors are expected to continue what they started. 

In the First District, the new mayors are: Arthur Cabantac (Agno town), Marcelo Navarro Jr. (Bani), Noel Nacar (Dasol) and Carlitos Reyes (Mabini). Re-elected mayors are: Mayors Hernani Braganza (Alaminos City), Nestor Pulido (Anda), Alfonso Celeste (Bolinao), Domingo Doctor Jr. (Burgos), Ruperto Martinez (Infanta) and John Rodney Arcinue (Sual).

The Second District has two new mayors in the persons of Teodoro Cruz (Mangatarem) and Ernesto Balolong Jr (Urbiztondo). Re-elected mayors are Ricardo Evangelista (Aguilar), Raul de Guzman (Basista), Simplicio Rosario (Binmaley), Rodrigo Orduña (Bugallon), Ernesto Acain (Labrador), and Ernesto Castañeda (Lingayen) who ran unopposed.

In the Third District, elected new mayors are Ricardo Camacho (Bayambang) and Julier Resuello (San Carlos City), who became acting mayor following the killing of his father, Mayor Julian Resuello. Armando Domantay of Malasiqui and retired Philippine National Police Deputy Director Reynaldo Velasco of Sta. Barbara won for the first time.

Mayor Roy Macanlalay of Calasiao retained his post together with Mayor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim of Mapandan town who ran unopposed.

All the fourth district mayors who supported the congressional re-election bid of House Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr were givenanother mandate, namely:

Napoleon Sales (Manaoag), Herminio Romero (Mangaldan), Mojamito Libunao Jr. (San Fabian) and Rolando Columbres (San Jacinto) while former Immigration Commissioner   Alipio  Fernandez Jr., who previously served as mayor of Dagupan City regained his post.

In the Fifth District, Mayors Vivien Villar (Sto. Tomas), Ramon Guico Jr. (Binalonan) , Amadeo Perez Jr. (Urdaneta City), and Carmen “Kimi” Cojuangco (Sison), who is the wife of unopposed fifth district Rep. Mark Cojuangco, were all unopposed while Villasis Mayor Nonato Abrenica, Bautista Mayor Amado  Espino III, and Alcala Mayor Manuel Collado were re-elected.

Perez’ lone opponent was eventually disqualified by the Commission on Elections, making him unopposed a week before the elections.

Also, elected mayors were Antonio Abalos of Laoac and Emma Chan of Pozorrubio.

Re-elected sixth district mayors were: Jose Peralta Jr.  (Balungao), Alejandrea Supnet  (Natividad),  Ricardo  Revita (Rosales), Salvador Perez (San Manuel), Leoncio Saldivar III (San Nicolas), Jose Ginez (Sta. Maria) and Carlos Trece Mapili (Tayug).

Elected new mayors were Carlos Lopez Sr (Asingan), Clark Cecil Tiu (San Quintin) and Eldred Tumbocon (Umingan).—EVA
