LADY enforcers will soon be manning the streets of Dagupan City and other parts of Region 1 as Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs), particularly for roadside inspection duties.

LTO Dagupan District Office Chief Eric Suriben said in an interview that the LTO regional office will tap the women in its workforce for field duty to strengthen the enforcement of Republic Act 4136, the Land Transportation and Traffic Code.

Suriben said the idea was initiated by LTO Region 1 Director Teofilo Guadiz III in response to the shortage of LEOs tasked to enforce traffic rules.

The lady enforcers who are organic members of the various LTO district offices will first undergo training scheduled in the third week of March before being sent to the streets to assist those in the regular squad.

The first batch of female traffic enforcers is will be ten, two of whom will be from the LTO Dagupan office.

Suriben said they expect that the lady LEOs will be effective road traffic enforcers as drivers will possibly have a less antagonistic attitude towards them when apprehended.–Johanne R. Macob
