Thanksgiving for FOPOG medical team held
LINGAYEN—Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. led provincial officials in extending Pangasinan’s deepest gratitude to the Federation of Pangasinenses on Guam (FOPOG) for the six-day free medical and surgical mission in six towns they conducted in cooperation with the provincial government.
In a fellowship and thanksgiving celebration held at the Sison Auditorium last November 20, Espino thanked FOPOG’s 60-member medical team for sharing the province’s mission of providing medical assistance and health care, especially to the underprivileged.
Reiterating his administration’s vision to make Pangasinan the best place to invest, work, live and raise a family to the FOPOG delegation, Espino said that after four years and a half, “I am proud to say that what we are today was what we planted.”
The governor proudly noted that Pangasinan is now rated as the best province in the country in health care with no less than 265,000 heads of indigent families enrolled in PhilHealth.
Major Vic Rivo, FOPOG president, expressed his group’s appreciation to the provincial government for the opportunity given them to serve fellow Pangasinenses.
Rivo said his team will return next year for another mission.
Espino said FOPOG is always welcome to the province as he assured them he will visit Guam next year together with the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to sign a sisterhood agreement.
“For all that we have experienced tonight, there is no reason why we should not come back,” Rivo said who was awed by the splendor of the Sison Auditorium and the cultural presentation of Asin Ed Asinan performed by provincial employees.
The medical mission was held on November 14 to 19, serving almost 8,000 indigent Pangasinenses from San Carlos City and the towns of Natividad, Manaoag, Mapandan, Pozorrubio and Calasiao.
Meanwhile, Espino urged fellow Pangasinenses in Guam to help promote Pangasinan.
“Tayo-tayo muna at ang mga kababayan natin na taga-Pangasinan ang magmahal sa sarili nating probinsiya to make Pangasinan achieve its top position again for being number one,” he said.
Towards this end, the provincial chief executive asked FOPOG to visit all the offices of the Capitol to get a glimpse of how the provincial government functions given all the enhancement and upgrading the Espino administration has implemented.
Espino also called on all the Pangasinenses who have sought greener pastures outside of the country to come back and reside in the province. (PIO/Angeline D. Villanueva)
