TESDA’s C4TP launched in Pangasinan
LINGAYEN—The Cash for Training Program (C4TP) of the Technical Skills Education Development Authority (TESDA), launched in the province last February 21, will give 1,735 young Pangasinenses the chance to be trained in various skills.
A joint program with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the C4TP will give beneficiaries the chance to undergo training for free as well as receive an allowance.
The skills training being offered include automotive, driving, food and beverage services, commercial cooking, bartending, motorcycle and small engine repair and maintenance, welding, housekeeping, computer hardware servicing, beauty care, consumer electronic servicing, electrical installation and maintenance and animal production with allowance.
The provincial government led by Governor Amado Espino Jr. expressed its full support for the program during the launch held at the Sison Auditorium.
Espino thanked the national government for bringing the program to the province, which he noted is in line with the local thrust of making Pangasinan “the best place to invest, live, work and raise a family.”
At the same time, Espino asked TESDA Director General Joel Villanueva to give more scholarship slots to the province.
“We still lack the necessary facilities in Pangasinan, no international seaport, no international airport or economic-tourism zone but we are proud to say that we have the most important key to development which is our human resources,” Espino said.
The C4TP will run for six months beginning last December 2012 with a total budget of P34.7 million.
Every scholar is apportioned P20,000 covering training fees, assessment fees, and transportation allowance.
DSWD is in charge of the release of funds for the training and in identifying the beneficiaries while TESDA will conduct the skills training through its 125 administered training institutions and partner schools.
The C4TP will be implemented in two components: Training for Wage Employment (trabaho) and Training for Self-Employment (hanapbuhay).–Johanne R. Macob
