Victor yields LP campaign management

FORMER Gov. Victor Agbayani has given up his post as general campaign manager for the Liberal Party’s (LP) ticket in Pangasinan and has given gubernatorial candidate Hernani Braganza full rein to lead the party’s campaign.

Agbayani, who opted not to run for any post in the May election, said his withdrawal will allow the campaign of Braganza, currently the mayor of Alaminos City, and his running mate Arturo Lomibao more leeway and capability to immediately calibrate quick responses to issues and organizational capabilities.

At presstime, Braganza has not issued any comment in reaction to Agbayani’s action.

In explaining his move, Agbayani noted that “In all the times that I ran, I was always the candidate and the campaign manager.”

Agbayani, however, added that he will be in constant touch with the candidates to help oversee the conduct of the campaign.

STILL LP CHAIR

The former Pangasinan governor and former House Representative of the 2nd District, now a consultant for the United States Agency for International Agency (USAID), clarified that he remains as LP provincial chairman.

“As provincial chairman, I will be under his disposal,” said Agbayani, referring to Braganza who is challenging incumbent Gov. Amado Espino Jr. of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) in a one-on-one duel in the May 13 poll.

As LP chair, he will still be in charge of the political activities of the party province-wide in relation to the campaign and his lines are open to the municipal and city chairmen for consultation and coordination.
