LINGAYEN–The national games of the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) opens at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRCSC) here on Monday with Archbishop Socrates Villegas of the Lingayen-Dagupan archdiocese as keynote speaker.

Prior to the opening of the games, heads of private schools, including sports officials, will join PRISAA National Chairman Emmanuel Angeles and National President Gonzalo Duque at the Sison Auditorium Sunday night to celebrate the 60th anniversary of PRISAA.

Atty. Felipe Guzon, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of GMA Channel 7, will be the guest of honor and speaker during the celebration.

To mark PRISAA’s 60th anniversary, Angeles and Duque will give awards to five outstanding sportsmen of the country who made their marks in the PRISAA games over the years.

In the opening program that starts in the afternoon of Monday, Governor Amado Easpino Jr. will deliver the welcome remarks while Dr. Caridad Abuan, regional director of the Commission on Higher Education in Region 1, will present the athletic delegations.

Some 5,000 athletes and coaches from 17 regions in the country have already arrived in Lingayen and are now raring to play.

The athletes will compete in 19 team and individual sports events.

This will be the second time that Pangasinan is hosting the PRISAA National Games after the first time in 2006.

Region VII or Central Visayas, which covers last year’s host Cebu, is PRISAA’s defending champion.
