Kalutan ed Dagupan re-staged
THE staging of the Kalutan ed Dagupan on April 30 was a raging success with no less than Susan Roces-Poe, actress and widow of former presidential candidate Fernando Poe Jr., as the guest of honor.
An estimated 300,000 DagupeƱos and visitors spent their most exciting hours during the actual Kalutan where some 25,000 bangus were grilled simultaneously and in the Liket tan Gayaga ed Dalan, touted as the grandest and biggest street party in the region.
“Since Dagupan City is still the titleholder of the Guinness World Record for longest barbecue, the concept of this year’s Kalutan is a grand celebration of the international success that we gained together and made us triumphed as DagupeƱos,” said Brian Lim, Bangus Festival 2007 executive chairman.
At 4:30 pm, opening ceremonies for the Kalutan started at Cafe Du Marc along AB Fernandez Avenue and afterwards, guests proceeded to grill number one for the lighting ceremony.
Afterwards, grillers simultaneously lighted their grills while dignitaries and guests led by Mayor Benjie Lim walk along the kilometer-stretch of the longest barbecue that ends in front of the City Plaza.
Nine concert stages that featured various wide arrays of music and artists transformed the entire downtown area into a party place.
