Susan endorses Lim
Susan Roces, widow of the late actor-turned-presidential candidate Fernando Poe, Jr., joined the celebration of Dagupan City’s Bangus Festival where she endorsed the candidacy of Mayor Benjie Lim for the fourth congressional district seat.
This developed as the Genuine Opposition (GO) expressed elation over the surge of support for PDP-Laban and GO congressional bet Lim against his opponent, House Speaker Jose de Venecia, Jr., after the former exposed the alleged massive vote buying operations of the latter through insurance card dole-outs.
“This is a good sign in Pangasinan as well as for the GO candidates who are expected to make a good showing in that vote-rich Northern Luzon province,” said GO Spokesman Adel Tamano.
Lim was one of the few city mayors in the country who supported the late actor, who he claimed beat President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo by 48,000 votes in Pangasinan in the 2004 election despite reports of vote padding for GMA by close to 150,000 after the counting.
The Lim camp claims that the display of support by Dagupan’s electorate during the Bangus Festival reportedly sent JDV on an even more frenzied vote-buying.
