A THOUSAND participated in the poll watching seminar conducted last Saturday by Atty. Romulo Macalintal, an election law expert, for supporters of Sta. Barbara mayoralty candidate retired Police Director Reynaldo Velasco.

The seminar was aimed at educating and preparing them for their rights and duties in the May 14 elections.

“Poll watchers play a crucial role during elections since they are the so-called watchdog tasked to guard the votes of a political party or a candidate,” said Macalintal who was the election lawyer of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Macalintal said it is necessary that candidates hold seminar and election briefing for their poll watchers to prepare them on the Election Day.

For his part, Velasco acknowledged the role of poll watchers in ensuring the victory of any candidate. He also thanked Macalintal for accepting the invitation for the latter to conduct voter security seminar for Velasco’s poll watchers as well as volunteering to serve as his election lawyer.

Velasco tapped Macalintal to handle all election related issues concerning his mayoralty.
