Ex-BSL business partners call for change
“SALAT, SALAT, SALAT”
TWO former business partners and political allies of Dagupan Mayor Benjamin Lim are spearheading a call for a change in political leadership in the city.
“Salat! Salat! Salat!” is now the battlecry of former Councilor Liberato Reyna Jr. and businessman Manny Roy, who used to be owner-partners of Lim in Centro Mart, the establishment beside the MC Adore property.
Reyna and Roy made the call during a gathering of members of the Reyna clan at the CSI Stadia on January 19.
“Parang Pacman, kain nang kain, walang kabusugan!” Roy told the gathering that included political leaders opposing Lim’s candidacy
The two accused Lim of allegedly wresting their interests in the business through “treachery”.
Meanwhile,Reyna said that when it comes to money “napakagaling nyang mag- magic!”, referring to Lim.
Present during the event was Reyna’s nephew Karlos, incumbent councilor of Dagupan who is now part of the new majority of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) that supports Lim.
But Karlos said he shares the sentiment expressed by his uncle.
The presence of Karlos belied rumors that he and another incumbent councilor, Alfie Fernandez, have distanced themselves from their teammates in the Liberal Party, headed by Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez as the mayoralty bet.
Also present during the Reyna gathering were former Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr., LP vice mayoralty bet Michael Fernandez, Councilors Maybelyn Fernandez and Jeslito Seen, Jose Netu Tamayo, Marlyn Manaois-Reyna, Saysi Samson, Marvin Fabia, Solo de Venecia and Fred Quinto.
De Venecia also called for a need to effect change in Dagupan “to bring it back to the path of progress and prosperity”.
“Puro cosmetic lang yang mga ipinagmamalaking river cruise at bangus festival… dahil ang katotohanan sinalaula nya ang kabuhayan, at mga properties ng Dagupan,” Roy said.
Roy also noted that the Duty Free Shop Philippines suffered financial difficulties under the stewardship of Lim during the Ramos administration.
Roy and Reyna also disclosed to the gathering that Lim is “in control of Metro State”, a company involved in a controversial building project in the city.
“Of course hindi nyo makikita ang pangalan ni Mayor dyan, pero obvious na obvious ang interest nya dyan. Magtanong tanong lang kayo sa mga tao dyan, magmasid at makiramdam at malalaman nyo rin na sya rin ang nasa likuran ng mga negosyo na yan,” Roy said.
