8 suspected drug dealers arrested
SEVERAL arrests were made by the provincial police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Region I in separate buy-bust operations in two cities and two towns.
On January 18, seven suspects were caught in Dagupan City, San Quintin, and Binalonan and another on January 20 in Urdaneta City.
The Dagupan City Police arrested Ernesto Lopez, a resident of the city, after he sold suspected shabu to a police officer who posed as a buyer.
Also seized from Lopez were three pieces sealed transparent sachets containing white crystalline granules suspected to be shabu.
Meanwhile, joint operatives of the San Quintin Police Station, Provincial Police Office, and the Provincial Public Safety Company Tayug Headquarters with help from PDEA-Region 1 arrested and impounded illegal drug paraphernalia from Marlyn Casayuran, Pepito Casanova Jr., Edwin Corpuz, Gary Orje, and Rodel Carcido.
In Binalonan, police officers also took into custody Silvester Corpuz, a resident of Villasis, and confiscated from him one small sealed plastic sachet suspected to be containing shabu and other paraphernalia.
All the suspects were lodged in their respective town jails while cases for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared for filing in court.
In Udaneta, a 36-year-old widow was arrested by operatives of PDEA for shabu.
PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr. identified the arrested suspect, as Tarhata Macalaba, alias Tata, residing in Urdaneta City.
“Macalaba is the wife of a pusher identified as Asis Hadji Modior, who was killed during a PDEA buy-bust operation in August 2012. After her husband’s death, she continued his illegal drug activities in the area and other neighboring communities,” Cacdac said–Johanne R. Macob with report from PDEA
