Easy come, easy go?

One candidate for councilor under the PDP Laban ticket has already withdrawn from the race, fueling speculations that the hastily-formed ticket of mayoralty candidate Brian Lim is not standing on solid ground.

Victor Ramos, a retired colonel and president of the Dagupan City Tricycle Drivers and Operators Association, personally filed his certificate of withdrawal on Thursday before the city elections office.

City Elections Officer Remarque Ravanzo has confirmed Ramos’ withdrawal.

Ramos did not indicate his reason for his withdrawal but speculations are rife that it is related to their group’s request for the suspension of issuance of tricycle franchise in the meantime, which was turned down by city hall.

      Ramos, representing their association, sought the suspension as he feared that politicians may take advantage of recommending their own protégés in order to earn votes in the coming election.
