Dagupan bags DOH Pinnacle of Excellence Award
DAGUPAN City received last month the Pinnacle of Excellence Award from the Department of Health for its program against tuberculosis.
Dr. Aurora Cuison, head of the City Health Office’s Directly Observed Treatment System (DOTS), said apart from the hall of fame award for the city’s TB initiatives, five employees manning the DOTS facility also received a similar award.
They are Ruby Dalmacio, Violeta Serrano, both medical technologists; Jennelyn Barrozo, a microscopist; Cuison being the medical coordinator and Jose Patawaran as the third medical technologist in the group.
From year 2000 to 2012, the city’s TB control efforts steadily improved the cure rate among patients served from 78 percent to a 92 percent.
To date, almost 2,000 TB-diagnosed patients have already been given a clean bill of health based on the DOTS Clinic accomplishment report. (CIO)
