Float parade lights up Dagupan’s streets

DAGUPAN CITY FIESTA

DAGUPAN city’s major thoroughfares glowed as decorated and brightly lit floats paraded around the downtown loop during the Bayanihan Sa Liwanag competition last December 26 as part of the City Fiesta celebration.

Shining brightest was Charles-Rent-A-Car’s lighted vintage car owned by Florencio Co, which 
was adjudged champion and won P30,000 cash prize.

Northstar Vintage Motor Club and Marcy Tagulinao’s entries came in second and third place, receiving P20,000 andP10,000, respectively.

Mayor Benjamin S. Lim, riding a colorfully adorned kalesa, led the vehicle parade, a first-time activity for the annual fiesta.

City Tourism Officer Rose Mary Teng-Mejia said the winners were picked based on their craftsmanship, use of colors, over-all impact, ingenuity and theme promoting Filipino festival culture, values and tradition. 
 
Non-competing participants also joined the procession of 16 vehicles.

OTHER EVENTS

Other fiesta events involved various sectors from the government and private businesses. 
 
On December 21, city government employees conducted their annual Employees Night while the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) members from the 31 barangays gathered at the People’s Astrodome for a night of fellowship.

The Federation of the Senior Citizens Associations of the Philippines-Dagupan Chapter (FSCAP) held their Senior Citizens Night at the People’s Astrodome on December 23.

On the same night, different transport groups converged at the city plaza for a night of merriment organized by Councilor Alvin Coquia. (CIO)
