Banned firecrackers seized on Christmas Day

SAN CARLOS CITY—Christmas Day was no holiday for the police here as they launched an operation to seize banned firecrackers being sold at a designated firecracker zone in Barangay Roxas here at around eight in the morning.

No vendors, however, were arrested as they were able to flee before the police arrived led by Inspector Darwin Zafra, operations officer of the city police.

Pursuit operations have been launched against the vendors and the confiscated items are now under the custody of the police for proper disposal.

Seized were one box of plapla, two boxes of Superlolo, two pieces of dynamite, six baby dynamites, five boxes of piccolo and eight jumbo whistle bombs, all banned under Republic Act 7183 or “An act regulating the sale, manufacture, distribution and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices.”–Hilda Martin Austria
