THE suspect in a robbery case on a lottery outlet on Burgos Street was arrested within 24 hours of the crime, thanks to a witness who stepped forward to provide information.

Superintended Romeo Caramat Jr., city police chief, said the information led to the arrest of Jojo Quiton, a resident of Bonuan Gueset, who stole at least P8,000 in cash after he threatened and mauled the lottery operator Roxanne de Vera last Monday.

The witness, who asked for anonymity, claimed that he had been observing Quiton’s moves since the suspect snatched an unidentified victim’s cellphone on the same street.

After hearing news about the robbery, he volunteered his statement as policemen were conducting their follow up investigation.

Caramat lauded the selfless initiative of the witness saying “we need the cooperation of our fellow citizens in solving different crimes in the city especially this holiday season.”

3-SHOP CRIME

“Three establishments in downtown Dagupan were burglarized last December 5 but the suspects were immediately apprehended the next day because of the cooperation of the witnesses with the police,” he said.

The establishments, Asia Link, Cris Hardware and Splash Direct Sales, lost some P74,000 to the robbers.

The arrested suspects were identified as Carlito Dela Cruz, Mark Anthony Nebrida and Aljon Lu while their companion nicknamed “Bobot” is still at large.

Caramat warned Dagupeños to be extra cautious in securing their areas during the Christmas season. (CIO)
