SAN CARLOS CITY—Senior Superintendent Isagani Nerez, provincial police  director, has ordered the combined police forces of this city and Calasiao town to look into the killing of a six-year old girl whose body was found on Thursday under advanced state of decomposition, her head disconnected from her body.

Nerez told local reporters that after the body of Sheena Castro of barangay Buenlag, Calasiao town was found at the secluded bamboo groves in barangay Ano here, he immediately sent a team from the Scene of the Crime Operatives of the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory.

Castro, daughter of Henry and Cheryl, was reported missing since February 27 and was last seen riding a tri-bike along barangay Macabito, Calasiao town.

Her aunt, Margie Salinas, brought her along to attend a birthday party of their relative. The victim was allegedly frightened after her sibling was injured when the two rode together in the tri-bike and she decided to hide, as she usually did in the past.

The couple went around various radio stations in the province appealing for the return of their daughter. But, last Thursday morning, her cadaver was discovered by a certain Armando Balansay while gathering firewood at said bamboo groves.

Nerez said he has directed Superintendents Johnny Bacbac and John Colinio, police chiefs of this city and Calasiao, respectively to join hands for the speedy solution of the crime and apprehend those responsible for the murder.

Colinio said it is possible that the perpetrator(s) might have been under the influence of drugs.

He added that the victim’s neck might have been strangulated as there was no trace of cutting.—EVA
