LNU, Dagupan gov’t ink MOU, for bangus industry profiling
THE Lyceum Northwestern University and the City Government of Dagupan have signed a memorandum of understanding for the comprehensive profiling of the city’s bangus processing industry.
The profiling project was conceptualized by the LNU Research and Development Management Office (RDMO) under its Community Research and Development Program.
“This is LNU’s contribution as an academic institution to research and development in the city,” said LNU president Gonzalo Duque who signed the MOU along with Mayor Benjamin Lim who was represented by his son and chief of staff, Brian Lim.
The MOU signing held Wednesday was witnessed by Engr. Peter Mangabat, provincial director of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Dr. Leonardo Carbonel, city health officer.
The project will be undertaken in collaboration with the City Agriculture Office and the DTI.
Dr. Eugene Reyes, RDMO director, said that the profiling project will be undertaken in line with the city government’s proposed milkfish processing plant.
“Small processors are wary of its possible effects on their business,” Reyes said.
The profiling project is intended to generate baseline information that can be used to enhance and further develop the milkfish processing industry in the city as a small-to-medium enterprise complementary to the proposed processing plant.
