THE provincial population office (PPO) is going around remote communities in Pangasinan conducting the Usapan dialogue series, discussing health issues with women of reproductive age particularly the use of contraceptives.

PPO planning officer Jessieca A. Rosario said unplanned pregnancies and improper birth spacing are usually due to misconceptions about the use of contraceptives and other family planning methods.

Speaking at the Philippine Information Agency radio program Tuesday, Rosario said couples in far-flung areas are hesitant to use birth-control methods for lack of information on their possible options.

Population Program Officer II Alex Sevilla Jr. cited contraceptives such as pills, vasectomy or ligation among the available options

The PPO conducted Usapan in the towns of San Quintin, Rosales, Mapandan, Mangatarem, Aguilar, Lingayen, Mabini, Anda, San Jacinto, Bayambang and Urdaneta City for the Population Development Week Celebration.

Sevilla said the PPO intends to bring the Usapan to all communities in Pangasinan. (PIA-Pangasinan/ARF)
