118 housing shelters turned over to Sitio Korea residents
DAGUPAN Mayor Benjamin S. Lim led the turnover of 118 single detached housing shelters and row houses to 476 residents in Sitio Korea last December 5.
“We all have our dreams. We all want to live in our own house, to have a stable job and to lead a more prosperous life. We are finding ways how to make these dreams come true especially for the underprivileged,” Lim said.
Lim also urged the beneficiaries to limit the number of their children, saying, “Now that the city government has given your own abode, do your best to provide your children with a good education, enabling them to become professionals someday.”
Present at the turnover ceremony were councilors Jesus Canto Jr. Karlos Reyna IV and Alvin Coquia, Bonuan Binloc Barangay chairman Pedro Gonzales and Sitio Korea Neighborhood Association President, Bobby Lito Mariñas.
The housing units comprise the third batch of houses built jointly by the Philippine Red Cross and the city government of Dagupan.
The first batch of houses was granted to 29 displaced families from Bonuan Binloc; the second to 130 families, half of which came from Pantal and the other half from Bagong Barrio; and third to 118 families from Pantal. (CIO)
