8-year old dies, another hurt from car hit
MALASIQUI—A speeding SUV vehicle ran into two eight-year old girls on their way to school Monday afternoon, killing one and hurting the other.
The fatality was Mia Zaya Dagmel, grade one student of Cabatling Elementary School, a resident of Barangay Talospatang here.
Her classmate, Shamel Villena, from the same barangay, has been confined in a hospital for injuries.
The two were hit by Rolando Azures, 46, a project engineer, resident of Barangay Salay, Mangaldan, who was driving a black Mitsubishi Montero when he hit the two while crossing the street.
Azures voluntarily surrendered to the police.—Eva Visperas
