LINGAYEN–“Every person should be physically and spiritually well-rounded”.

This was said by Governor Amado T. Espino Jr. in inspiring the seminarians during the mass celebrated by Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas, following the opening program of Sangkan III, a sports festival participated in by some 15 seminaries in the country.

Sharing physical and emotional strength as one family, Espino said, “Sangkan is an avenue for you to express what you’ve learned in the seminary” as he encouraged the seminarians to bring out the best in them in the sporting events.

Likewise, Espino expressed elation over the organizer and Sankan’s host Mary Help of Christians Minor Seminary (MHCMS) in Binmaley for choosing the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) as the venue of the sports spectacle from November 22-23.

With the annual staging of Milo Northern Luzon leg, he said “This (NRSCC) has been home of champions” adding that the sports facility also hosted the benchmark Palarong Pambansa last May.

Towards ending his discourse, he quoted Fr. Villegas’s statement, “Tayo ay nandito dahil sa Panginoon, para sa kabutihan ng kapwa at para sa buhay na walang hanggan”.

Eliminations of various indoor and outdoor sporting events were simultaneously held in day 1 while second day of the activity gathered formidable teams competing in the championship rounds.

Before the opening program, participants had a great moment on the eve of the 21st enjoying the ambience of the capitol and the sounds rendered by the banda ni ATE.
