THE Pollution Control Association of the Philippines Region 1, Inc. (PCAPI) will hold its 10th Annual Regional Convention and General Assembly at the Star Plaza Hotel in Dagupan City on Nov. 9 to 11, the first time the annual event will be held outside Baguio City.

The event, with the theme “PCO’s ng Makabagong Panahon: 10 Taon ng Pagpupunyagi at Tagumpay sa mga Hamon ng Kalikasan,” will provide updates on environmental laws and discuss best practices of local government units and private industries in the region.

Lectures will be on revision of the appointment and designation of pollution control officers, the Clean Air Act, the Hazardous and Toxic Waste Substance and Nuclear Waste Control Act, water sampling protocol, the Clean Water Act, the Ecological Waste Management Act, Climate Change Act and the Montreal Protocol (phasing out of substances believed to contribute to the depletion of the Ozone Layer).

The PCAPI, winner of the DENR Environmental Excellence Award in 2009, and Likas Yaman Awards in 2010 and 2011, is considered as the leading environmental organization in the region.
