New Year’s Eve baby gets perks
A baby born at exactly 12:00 midnight on January 1 at the government-owned Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) in Dagupan City will receive special benefits from the hospital for being the “New Year’s Eve baby”.
Dr. Jesus Canto, R1MC hospital chief, told The PUNCH that various perks and privileges will be given to the newborn, named Adrian Angel Moreno, including a plaque of recognition, free hospital expenses, five-year free medical care, free immunizations and a still undetermined cash prize.
The hospital will also coordinate with some medical companies to supply the baby with other needs such as diapers and vitamins.
“Baleg yan grasya parad sikami (This is a big blessing to us),” said the baby’s father, Aldrin Macam, 29, a laborer from barangay Pangapisan Norte, Lingayen.
The baby’s mother, Annie Moreno, 27, works part-time selling beauty products. The couple’s combined income can hardly sustain the family’s needs and they were worried about sourcing the money for the hospital bills.
Another unexpected surprise to Adrian’s parents was Canto’s offer to be the couple’s godfather when they get married this year. The couple has been planning to tie the knot but financial constraints have been holding them back.
“Talagan anghel ed bilay mi yan ogaw (He’s really an angel to us),” the
mother said of her new child.
The excited parents said they will have their wedding within the year simultaneous with the baptism of their baby. — EVA
