The San Fabian Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) president Roland Villegas, with the assistance of his brother, the town’s Vice Mayor Ribby Villegas, will hold anew a bicycle road race on January 20 in conjunction with the celebration of its town fiesta.

Dubbed this year as “Viva Villegas Tour,” Councilor Villegas said the race will start and end in San Fabian Catholic High School and the participants will traverse the San Fabian-San Jacinto-Mangaldan circuit route eight times, with a total distance of 144 kilometers.

The councilor announced that that the champion will receive P6, 000 plus trophy and the first and second runners-up will pocket P5,000 and P4,000, respectively, and also with trophy each.

Fourth and fifth prizes will be P3,000 and P2,000 respectively while sixth to  tenth placers will be awarded P1,000 apiece. Fourth to tenth finishers will also be given medal each and all survivors to receive P200 apiece.

“We have to contribute to stage bicycle races in the province because we believe that this is kind of game our local boys could excel in national and international competitions,” Villegas said. “This is a sport where ‘height is not might.’

”Cycling is one of the best ways—if not the main way—to curb the use of illegal drugs which is much affecting our society now,” Veem Villegas echoed.

The race is exclusively for Pangasinenses with a maximum of 70 participants.  The Villegas brothers will start the event at 10:00 a.m. — JAG
