“I LOVE PANGASINAN”

MORE than just a slogan, the “I love Pangasinan” campaign initiated by the provincial government aims to strengthen appreciation for the province’s culture and improve the standards of cleanliness and tourist attractions in all municipalities and cities.

The campaign was launched last week to mark the formal opening of the Tourism Month celebration along with the introduction of the official Pangasinan hymn.

Gov. Amado Espino Jr. said the campaign should encourage all Pangasinenses to take part in making the province more attractive to tourists.

“If we say we love Pangasinan, we should then make it lovable,” Espino said.

Under the campaign, the 44 towns and four cities in Pangasinan will be evaluated based on certain parameters set by the provincial government.

Members of the media have been tapped to help in the initial assessment.

“The important thing is to promote more pleasant and good things about the province, thus the installation of score cards for each local government unit will measure how much they love Pangasinan,” explained Provincial Administrator Rafael F. Baraan.

Meanwhile, the governor also signed Provincial Ordinance No. 154, which requires all government offices, national or local and all schools, public and private, located in the province including component cities, to sing the Pangasinan hymn every Monday morning during flag raising ceremonies.

Espino also urged all Pangasinenses to learn to speak the Pangasinan language, including those in the Ilocano-speaking areas, mostly located in the eastern and western parts of the province.

Nakakahiya kung tinanong kayo at ang sagot ninyo, hindi ko alam magsalita ng Pangasinan,” he said. (DOS/PIA Pangasinan)
