City engineer clarifies inclusion of Centromart in Dagupan’s AIP
THE inclusion of “Centromart” in the Annual Investment Plan is just “a point of reference.”
This was the explanation given by City Engineer Jane Rosario when asked in an interview to clarify why the privately-owned establishment was included in her department’s proposed Annual Investment Plan (AIP) for 2013.
Rosario said that based on what the City Engineering Office (CEO) discussed during their strategic planning, “Kailangan lahat ng markets may waste water pipeline.”
She further explained that the only reason why the private establishment was mentioned was because it is located beside Galvan Market and the McAdore building.
In a separate interview, Mayor Benjamin Lim expressed his support on the proposed plan of the CEO to have a sewerage system built around the central business district (CBD).
“Isa sa mga nakita nilang problema ay yung waste water na nanggagaling sa ating mga palengke. When we say palengke along Galvan Street, we are talking of a public market and a private market, which is CentroMart. The wastewater of these markets must be treated. So, nabanggit [in the AIP] ang establishments na mag-bebenefit dito. But we have to remember that even CentroMart is a taxpayer,” Lim said.
Lim also defended that the private company, which he owns, is not the only establishment that will benefit from this project. (CIO)
