Lomibao vows to make PNP stations world class
MANGALDAN—Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Arturo Lomibao wants to make the “world-class” police station here, his hometown, as the model in the whole country.
Lomibao, who arrived for inauguration of the newly-refurbished police station last week, said he wants to make a difference in the lives of the policemen and the Filipino people before retiring in July this year.
Lomibao planned for the construction of the PNP building here when he was still the regional director of the Ilocos region. He sought to refurbish and renovate the building making it “world-class” , referring mainly to the facilities of the station.
“So they can say that someone from Pangasinan did his best as the Chief of the PNP. And because I am carrying the name of Mangaldan, I am carrying the name of Pangasinan,” he said.
He added, “I will be retiring in July and I want to make the PNP a world-class institution. That’s my programs.”
He said his PNP Transformation Program seeks not only to improve buildings but also in work attitude, and spiritual and moral transformation.
“Even if you have a good building, if you don’t dedicate yourself, that’s useless,” he said.
He said he is hoping the local police force here will be the model in giving “service with efficiency, effectiveness, credible, dependable and most of all capable”.
Lomibao said of the three dimensions of the 10-year PNP Transformation Program, most important “is the mental transformation through continuous training so that the police will be more responsive to the needs of the community”.
“The transformation of our police depends on the dedication of our people, the sincerity, support and cooperation of the local government units”.
He added that, aside from a continuous leadership and enhancement course in Subic., they are now regionalizing the training so that it will be institutionalized. He added that he is also hoping to fill up personnel requirement to make the ratio of one for every 500 people.
Lomibao said under his stewardship, while PNP has targeted to build 100 police stations in the whole country, there are already 180 to 190 new buildings.
He said the remaining 600 new police stations will be constructed by the next PNP chiefs up to 2010.–EVA
