LINGAYEN–A barangay chairman is in hot water after he fired a provincial government-issued firearm indiscriminately and pointed it at his neighbors in Barangay Bongalon, Bugallon town on September 5 at around 9:00 p.m.

Barangay Chairman Rannie Soriano is now locked up at the Bugallon Police jail following the complaint filed by his neighbor whom he allegedly harassed with the use of his shotgun.

Soriano is facing a case of alarm and scandal, trespassing in private dwelling and illegal possession of firearms.

The police seized from him a shotgun, with the marking “Property of Pangasinan Province”, loaded with three ammunition and a Cal. 45 Armscor pistol with magazine loaded with nine ammunition.

Soriano’s neighbors complained that the barangay fired his shotgun twice in the air and then pointed it at them.

Soriano countered that he fired his gun in the air when some people pelted stones at his house and denied pointing it at his neighbors.

The case is now being investigated by the local police while Soriano is scheduled for paraffin testing.
