TAYUG—Residents of Tayug, especially old timers, hailed the proposed restoration of the old Gabaldon building inside the Tayug Central Elementary School by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).

The proposed restoration of the burnt building, built in 1949 and gutted in a 2001 fire, was initiated by Sixth District Rep. Marlyn Primcias Agabas.

The Gabaldon building was among the original school buildings constructed in post-war Pangasinan, giving it special historical significance to the older generation of Tayug.

Based on the plan, the building will utilize its original foundation which was certified by the town engineer, Leovino Palis, as stable and safe.

Palis said there are no sign of cracks on its walling as it was built using concrete and not hollow blocks.

When completed, the building will provide an additional 14 classrooms to the school.
