Alaminos City to host stage 8 of 2013 Ronda Pilipinas bikefest

SCENIC Alaminos City will host the eighth of the 16 stages of the 2013 Ronda Pilipinas bikathon on January 22 next year.

Ricardo Rodriguez, race director of the bikefest, said the 96 accredited cyclists divided in 16 different teams that includes two Pangasinan squads (west and east) will be starting from Olongapo City via Iba and Sta. Cruz in Zambales midway into the race.

The race will cover a distance of 181.5 kilometers and with a top prize of P50,000 for the day’s top winner.

Rodriguez also disclosed that on the day after the Alaminos stage, the whole Ronda entourage will take a rest day and be able to visit the famous Hundred Islands National Park before taking off on January 24 to Vigan City for the ninth stage.

The 16-day road saga will commence in Zamboanga City, traversing Visayas and Luzon and will wind up in Baguio City on February 1.

The individual and team winners will bring home P1 million each, aside from the stage prizes, reaching a total of P7.8 million in cash prizes.
