Gov. Espino forms Nat’l Tourism Week Celebration committee
LINGAYEN—Gov. Amadao Espino Jr. enjoins all local government units, national agencies and the private sector in Pangasinan to actively support and participate in the National Tourism Week Celebration on September 16 to 30. This developed as Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. created the Provincial Steering Committee of the 2011 National Tourism Week Celebration in the province of Pangasinan to plan, coordinate and implement the programs and activities that will be conducted during this year’s celebration.
The Governor said the observance of the National Tourism Week is aimed at instilling national consciousness on tourism as an instrument of progress to accelerate national development, unity and identity as a nation.
The province of Pangasinan places a high priority on tourism development being one of the major thrusts of the province and the province has since gained become a favorite tourist destination in the region.
The steering committee for the 2011 celebration will be headed by Vice-Governor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim, Jr. with chief tourism operations officer Maria Luisa Elduayan as co-chair.
Members include Butch Velasco, provincial information officer; Dalisay Moya, officer-in-charge provincial agriculturist; Marife Acerit, OIC-chief of the Special Events Team; Col. Samuel Labadia, OIC-chief ENRO-NRRG; Dr. Aurora Domingo, DepEd division school 1 superintendent; Dr. Virginia Raguindin, Dr. Rowena Banzon, Dr. Alma Ruby Torio, Dr. Ma. Celia Fernandez, Dr. Oscar Tadeo all from DepEd; Leduina Co, OIC PENRO provincial director of; Peter Mangabat, DTI provincial director; Dasol Mayor Noel Nacar, PLM president; Sn. Quintin Councilor Bayani Villar, PTOA president; Martin Valera, DOT regional director; Dr. Caridad Abuan, acting CHED Region 1 director and Howie Cham, Pangasinan Tourism Council president.
