DAGUPAN CITY – Senate President Manuel Villar will be the guest of honor and speaker during the Barangay Night of the City Fiesta on December 27.

This was disclosed by City Director Expedita Callanta of the Department of Interior and Local Government who was appointed by the fiesta executive committee headed by Hermana Mayor Librada Reyna, to chair the organization of the Barangay Night.

Callanta said she accepted the offer for her to chair the Barangay Night to help unify the warring Barangay Captains of the city all of whom are expected to attend.

Liga ng mga Barangay President Eric Muñoz and Barangay Captain Guillermo Vallejos of Barangay Poblacion Oeste, including their respective followers, are still at odds with each other over the leadership post.

Earlier, Vallejos led a majority of barangay chairmen who sought a reorganization to oust Muñoz but their series of moves were thwarted by the Liga ng mga Barangay National President James Marty Lim. 

Callanta dispelled speculations that Muñoz and Vallejos will head separate Barangay Nights as a result of their strained relations. — APE
