Tayugenians in So. Cal slate reunion on Aug. 12-14
PANGASINENSES originally from Tayug and neighboring towns who are now based in Southern California will hold their annual reunion and get-together on August 12 to 14 in San Diego.
Engr. Antonio Ebreo, a retired U.S. Navy man who is president of the Tayugenians of Southern California, is spearheading the activity that brings together former residents of Tayug and nearby towns, especially those who studied at the Luna Colleges, the defunct Eastern Pangasinan Academy and the Tayug National High School.
Calling from San Diego, Ebreo, now 71 years old, said they prepared 225 invitations but so far a bigger number at 370 have already registered to join the three-day event.
The first day of the activity will be a ‘Pista sa Nayon’ at Chioka Vista in San Diego, near the border of Mexico, wherein typical Filipino fiesta fare will be served such as pinakbet, lechon, adobo, caldereta, and dinuguan.
On August 13, a gala night will be held at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in San Diego where the all-Filipino live band “Motion by the Night” will play.
A Grand Picnic will be held on August 14 at the Admiral Bakers’ Picnic Area, also in San Diego.
The activity is also intended to raise funds for the association’s projects through the $130 contribution of every participant.
