New traffic scheme in Lingayen readied
LINGAYEN – A new traffic scheme that will finally decongest traffic at the highway at any time of the day is now under study by the Sangguniang Bayan (SB).
According to P/Supt. Rodolfo Lomibao, chief of police, the traffic plan, will address the daily bottleneck experienced along the main highways and arteries here, particularly the areas near the Pangasinan State University, in front of the Catholic Church, the CentroMart and in front of the Lingayen police station.
Having identified the areas where traffic always builds up, the police chief said a traffic decongestion experiment must be conducted for at least 30 days soon as the recommendation is passed by the SB and approved by Mayor Ernesto Castaneda.
He stressed the need for an intensive information and education campaign for the duration of the experiment period because he believes that the congestion of vehicles are caused mainly by stubborn and undisciplined drivers of jeepneys and pedicabs, including pedestrians.—APE
