Undas observance was peaceful
LINGAYEN–The celebration of Undas around Pangasinan was described as generally peaceful and orderly with no major untoward incident reported by the police.
Chief Inspector Edison Revita, information officer of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO), said the police will continue to be on heightened alert until November 4 as tourists and homecoming visitors travel out of the province.
It means the police assistance centers and motorist assistance centers situated along the highways will remain in place to ensure the safety of all travelers while police will keep a tight watch on public transport stations.
Revita said that based on the monitoring of the PPO, most of the incidents that were reported were children getting lost in the crowded cemeteries, but were later rejoined with their parents.
There were also people stopped from bringing in prohibited items to the cemetery, including sharp instruments, which many claimed were intended for cleaning the grave of their relatives.
In Urdaneta City, traffic bottleneck along the Urdaneta-Dagupan road was prevented when the police and the Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) cordoned off lanes for the exclusive use of people going to and from the cemetery
In Dagupan, people who visited the various cemeteries left mounds of garbage, which could take a day to clear.
