Mangaldan bikefest set Feb. 27
THE annual Mangaldan bikefest will be staged on February 27 as the opening event of the town’s eight-day fiesta celebration.
Dubbed this year as “XVIII Werweran ed Mangaldan 2011”, the event will be staged in two categories, the master-executive and the amateur-ex-professional divisions, both with cash prizes, trophies and medals awaiting winners.
Race director Jesus Garcia Jr. said a maximum of 120 participants will be admitted into the competition.
The race will again be sponsored by Excellent Noodles owned by well-known amateur cyclist Alexander Billan and who promised to participate in the event.
Mayor Herminio Romero will flag off the participants across the PNP Mangaldan station.
The race route will cover the towns of San Fabian and San Jacinto in Pangasinan, and Damortis, Agoo, Tubao, Pogo and Rosario in La Union, with a distance of 90 kilometers for the master-executive riders and 110 kilometers for the amateur-ex-professional group.
The mayor, assisted by Sangguniang Bayan members led by Vice Mayor Bernardo Abalos, will give the awards at the finish line.–Philamer C. Celi
