Underwater Valentine wedding at the Hundred Islands
ALAMINOS CITY–Two couples had a unique wedding at the Hundred Islands National Park here on the day before Valentine’s: it was held underwater.
City Mayor Hernani Braganza, who officiated the wedding of the couples, donned his scuba diving gear for the renewal of marriage vows between Jayson Llavore and Myrna Gallinero, and Frederick Juanchon and Geraldine Gentozala.
The couples, all certified scuba divers, used sign language as the usual form of communication among divers when underwater when they affirmed their marriage.
The couples signed their marriage vows on tablets using a pen designed for under water use.
The ceremony was part of the “Lovin’ ‘n Divin’ at the Hundred Islands 2011” campaign being promoted by the Alaminos City government to lure more tourists to the marine park.
CAVE WEDDING
Braganza also officiated the renewal of wedding vows of balibayans Senen Juanchon and Carmelita Marcelo held in one of the caves in the Hundred Islands.
Juachon and Marcelo were celebrating 47th wedding anniversary.
After the renewal of wedding vows, the couples were serenaded by an acoustic band courtesy of Mulanay Experiential headed by Oton Santiago, one of the event’s organizers.
A day after the underwater and cave weddings, the city celebrated its annual mass civil wedding event on Valentine’s Day, dubbed “Hundred Kisses at Hundred Islands”, held since 2005 upon the initiative of Braganza.
This year, 95 couples participated, according to city civil registrar Reynaldo Castro.–LM
