Urdaneta Hospital expansion sought
LINGAYEN—The application of the Urdaneta District Hospital for an expansion into a 100-bed capacity has been endorsed by the provincial board to the Department of Health.
The current 50-bed hospital, owned by the provincial government, recorded an unprecedented increase in occupancy from January to August this year from 139 per cent to 254 per cent.
The resolution for endorsement, authored by fourth district Board Member John Agerico Rosario and passed Monday during the Sangguniang Panlungsod’s session, says, “In line with the main thrusts of the present administration to have a mass base health care program to accommodate all people especially the less fortunate sector of society, there is a need to support the plans of the Urdaneta District Hospital to provide a sufficient and higher level of medical and health services to its patients by increasing its bed capacity from 50 to 100.”
The hospital, located in Urdaneta City, has been rehabilitated in recent years and had undergone renovations to accommodate more patients.
The Urdaneta District Hospital is one of the 14 hospitals operated by the provincial government.—Eva Visperas
