Police warns alarm system still not in place
SEVERAL financial houses in Dagupan have yet to comply with a standing city ordinance requiring them to establish an alarm system directly linked to the police.
P/Supt. Mateo Casupang, deputy chief of police, said a recent audit of the alarm system revealed this.
He cited City Ordinance No. 1809-S of 2004 requires banks and other financial institutions to set up an alarm system directly connected to the hot line of the Dagupan police.
The measure is necessary, he said, in order to preempt any incident of robbery-holdup and other related crimes against properties being committed during the Christmas holiday season.
“We can preempt the attack by installing the necessary alarm system,” Casupang reminded owners of business establishments.
Casupang met last Wednesday with owners and managers of banks, money changer shops, pawnshops and other related businesses.
He reiterated his call for compliance by the erring establishments given the onset of the yuletide season, the known peak period for robberies.
Casupang warned the establishment owners to take the necessary precautions because of reports that a criminal syndicate known to be operating in another province is planning to strike and operate here.
He said the immediate installation of the alarm system directly connected to the police hotline will help thwart future attempts by criminal elements. — APE
