PESO holds ‘Special Jobs Fair’

LINGAYEN–The provincial government, through its Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO), conducted a Special Jobs Fair for engineers, and construction and industrial workers at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center last January 18.

Of the 278 applicants from all over the province, some 188 passed the initial interview and will advance to a final interview.

One of the major development thrusts of Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr.  is to create more jobs and income opportunities for Pangasinenses and lessen unemployment rate in the province.

According to PESO chief Alex F. Ferrer, they invited three local companies, namely: Hanjin Heavy Industries; TIPCO Trust International Paper Corporation; and Fiber Sorting Inc. (FSI) and September Star, Inc., an overseas placement agency, for this month’s special jobs fair.

Itong mga companies na ‘to, tinitignan muna natin iyong mga vacancies nila saka natin sila iniimbitahan to make sure na marami silang ma-accomodate na mga applicants natin dito sa probinsiya,” Ferrer said.

He also said PESO will now be conducting monthly jobs fair.

He noted that this month’s jobs fair, like last month’s which was for nurses, are targeted for specific job category.

Napansin niyo hindi masyadong maraming applicants dahil focused jobs fair ito, naka-specific job categories na tayo para mas marami ang matatanggap,” he added.

The job fair scheduled for February will be for hotel and restaurant personnel.

Meanwhile, Ferrer lauded municipal mayors and some local media institutions for helping disseminate information regarding the PESO’s projects and programs, highlighting their major role in achieving the PESO’s objectives. (PIO)
