3 tots drown in fishpond
BAYAMBANG–Watch out for your children.
Three kids drowned Thursday while playing in a fishpond in Barangay Nalsian here, according to the police.
The fatalities were identified as Niko Bughaw, 5; Analiza Sariento, 5; and Alexander Liego, 4. All were found lifeless in the fishpond owned by Rolly Rodriguez.
Police investigation showed that the three were initially playing inside their residential compound at around 9:00 a.m. and no adult noticed that they had left for the fishpond.
Rodolfo Liego, the children’s grandfather, was the first to become aware that that the three were no longer inside the compound and he sought their neighbours’ help to go looking.
They found the slippers of the three at the bank of the fishpond and the children already sank in the pond.
The three were rushed separately to different hospitals where they were declared dead on arrival.
