KBP “broadcastrees” in San Fabian
SAN FABIAN–The Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP)-Pangasinan Chapter launched a tree planting activity dubbed “broadcastreeing” in this town on October 13.
Bernie Errasquin, chapter president, said the activity was conducted nationwide by 30 KBP chapters simultaneously in response to the National Greening Program (NGP) of President Benigno Aquino.
The tree planting activity covered 10 barangays in San Fabian town which include the barangays of Alacan, Cayanga, Guilig, Longos, Mabilao, Poblacion, Rabon, Tempra, Tiblong and Tocok.
Seedlings of fire trees planted in these barangays were provided by the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO).
The NGP aims to plant at least 1.5 billion trees in around 1.5 million hectares of public lands over the six-year period, from 2011 to 2016.
As a token of appreciation, San Fabian Mayor Irene Libunao gave bangus sardines to KBP members and other agencies who participated in the event.
The bangus sardines, produced by the Pangasinan Council of Women, is part of San Fabian’s One Town, One Product (OTOP).
The ‘broadcastreeing’ was launched in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Interior and Local Government, Philippine National Police and Philippine Red Cross. (PIA-Pangasinan/AMM)
