Aquaculture Business Center now open to help fish farmers
FISH farmers and the general public are welcome to visit the newly-opened Aquaculture Business Center in Bonuan Binloc, operated by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-National Integrated Fisheries Technology Development Center (BFAR-NIFTDC).
Dr. Westly Rosario, NIFTDC chief, said the center is a venue for providing information on technologies that can be easily adopted to improve operations and harvest.
It has video presentations on the ABCs of aquaculture technologies developed by NIFTDC.
Junior technical Staff of NIFTDC, who are Bachelor of Science Fisheries graduate and board passers, will take turns serving as “Aquaculture Technologist of the Day” to attend to visitors and assist them with their needs.
Rosario said he is optimistic that the interactive services will encourage entrepreneurs to pursue hatchery and grow-out business to help boost the fisheries industry in the Philippines.
The Aquaculture Business Center will also serve as a live fish market for various aquaculture commodities being propagated by the Center.
