Ravanzo takes oath as JCI national president
“WITH a great measure of humility, respect and affection for many people who have supported and encouraged me in my travel in the JCI organization for an uncharacteristic period that spanned nearly half of my life, I accept the National Presidency.”
Thus said Ryan Ravanzo when he was inducted as the 65th national president of the Philippine Jaycees last October 13 at La Piazza Hotel in Legaspi City before JCI Senator Ken Wong.
Ravanzo said it was former Dagupan City Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr. who served as his inspiration for impressing on him “how people can inspire change”.
“Just a like a father, he was my awakener, he inspired a thought that our circumstances do not define you as a person. The choices we make inspire you to create change and wonder in your life and in other people as well,” the new JCI president said.
He also cited the friendship and support of his local organization, JCI Dagupan, as well as friends from the Northern Luzon and Area 1.
“I cannot imagine myself as a complete person apart from my really good friends whom I call my own family,” he said.
“My long story as a JCI member is a story of inspiration for some. For me it was conviction, engagement and participation that inspires me. I believe that as young people it is our inescapable mandate to create a future we want, a future we deserve,” Ravanzo said.
