Pangasinan athletes shine in 9th Milo Little Olympics
LINGAYEN – Five Pangasinan schools reaped honors Thursday by placing among the top 10 in both the secondary and primary divisions in the 9th Milo Little Olympics held at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center last September 23, 24 and 30 and October1.
Two of the Pangasinan schools are in the secondary division, the Umingan National High School and the Pangasinan National High School in Lingayen that placed sixth and 10th respectively.
On the other hand, the Tiep Elementary School in Bani, Osiem Elementary School in Mangaldan, and La Marea Academy in Dagupan City t wound up fourth, sixth and 10th, respectively, in the primary division.
Adjudged best athletes from Pangasinan were Alvin Ventanilla of the Pangasinan National High School in football; Lino Nepacina of the Urdaneta National High School in sepak takraw; and Kenny Castro of San Jacinto National High School, in table tennis.
The Baguio National High School topped in the secondary division when its athletes amassed 31 golds, 28 silvers and 30 bronzes to capture the championship trophy and P40,000 cash.
Second placer was Holy Angel University of Angeles City, Pampanga that collected 11 golds, 16 silvers and 11 bronzes for the runner-up trophy and P20,000 cash while St. Joseph College of Olongapo City had seven golds, seven silvers and four bronzes to snatch the second runner-up trophy and P10,000 cash.
In the primary division, the champion was Urbiztondo Elementary School in San Juan, La Union with 11 golds, 11 silvers and 10 bronzes, good for P40,000 cash and the championship trophy; followed by Tamorong Elementary School of Candon, Ilocos Sur with seven golds, five silvers and six bronzes, for the runner-up trophy, and P20,000; and St. Louise College of San Fernando City, La Union with six golds, seven silvers and four bronzes, for the second runner-up trophy and P10,000.
