Sual plant named IPP of the year at Asian Power Awards
THE power facility of TeaM Energy in Sual has been named Independent Power Producer (IPP) of the year, besting several other IPPs in the Asian region, during the 2010 Asian Power Awards given out by the Singapore-based Asian Power Magazine.
“This is a testament not only to the world-class workforce we have at the Sual power station, but also to what Filipinos can achieve at the global level,” said Federico Puno, president/CEO TeaM Energy.
Asian Power Magazine gives out the award to IPPs with the best practices in Asia’s power industry. Criteria for the award included reliability, efficiency, occupational health and safety, environmental performance and corporate social responsibility, among others.
The coal-fired Sual plant, one of the largest IPPs in the Philippines, is operated by TeaM Energy, a partnership between Japanese firms Tokyo Electric Power Company and Marubeni Corporation.
