Espino urges TFK to intensify operations
GOV. Amado Espino Jr. has urged Task Force Kalikasan and its member agencies to intensify their dismantling and dredging operations.
“Let us leave a legacy to the future children of this province para makita nila na meron silang malinis, mabango, maganda at buhay na mga ilog,” Espino said during a meeting last November 2 with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Center (PDRRMC), Task Force Kalikasan members and other task forces commissioned to implement the provincial government’s Clean Up Drive of the rivers and water systems of Pangasinan.
Espino said he is bent to pursue his advocacy in saving the environment through river clean-up as a long term measure to prevent flooding especially during strong typhoons and other calamities.
He added that this will also give opportunity for other people to avail of the bounties of the waters which used to cater only to fish pen operators who have built their fish nets or fish traps illegally in the rivers.
“Hindi natin ipinagbabawal ang pangingisda, instead, we are encouraging people to fish. We are cleaning the rivers para tumaba at dumami uli ang mga isda so that the fishermen can fish again,” the governor said even as he stressed that the rivers belong to every Pangasinense.—LM
