Consumer’s rights awareness seminar held

THE National Consumer Affairs Council, the highest policy making body for consumer protection, conducted a one-day seminar about consumer awareness on Wednesday in celebration of the Consumer Welfare Month.

NCAC officer- in- charge Velma Lim led the various speakers in tackling topics like the Consumer Act of the Philippines, energy conservation and efficiency, meat safety and quality, Ecological Solid Waste Management Act, climate change and the Senior Citizens Act.

“We need to educate the buying public for them to be good consumers. Dapat aware ang mga mamimili sa kanilang mga rights and responsibilities,” Lim said.

She said the seminar was part of the continuing information and education campaign, which the NCAC conducts in partnership with the Departments of Trade and Industry, Agriculture, Health, Education. Energy and Environment

BAGWIS AWARD

Establishments that applied for the Bagwis Seal, a mark of “Consumer Excellence”, who failed to attend the earlier awarding ceremony in La Union, received their awards during the seminar.

Pangasinan had 18 awardees for the Silver Bagwis seal, namely Siapno Tada Optical (main with its 7 branches), Bitstop Inc, (sales and service), and the sales and repair shops of Toyota Dagupan, Nissan, Chevrolet and Hyundai Pangasinan.
